Nasekomo Earns Top Recognition at Kumihimo Tech Camp, Opening Path to Strategic Collaboration in Japan
Nasekomo has been selected as one of the three winners of Kumihimo Tech Camp, an open innovation program developed by Murata Manufacturing in partnership with Endeavor Bulgaria.
Kumihimo Tech Camp brings together technology-driven companies exploring innovative applications of Murata’s sensor technologies across various industrial sectors. In this year’s edition, more than 20 companies applied to participate, with only seven reaching the final pitching round. Following the final presentations, three companies were selected as winners: Nasekomo, Simobotics, and Solumar.
Nasekomo’s project focused on the implementation of CO₂ sensor technology for advanced monitoring of insect rearing environments. During the final pitch, the company demonstrated how real-time CO₂ data provides insights into larval metabolism, enabling optimization of biological processes and more precise control of production parameters.
Monitoring air quality plays a critical role in insect farming, as CO₂ levels directly influence larval development and the feed microbiome. By aligning equipment settings with biology-specific parameters rather than fixed industrial thresholds, sensor-driven monitoring also supports improved energy efficiency and optimized electricity consumption.
The project was presented on site by Desislava Karaslavova, Project manager at Nasekomo and Marc Bolard, CEO.
As part of the Kumihimo Tech Camp program, the three selected winners are invited to visit Murata’s headquarters in Kyoto, where they will be introduced to the company’s activities and strategic priorities. The visit will also include in-depth discussions aimed at assessing opportunities for future business collaboration.
Nasekomo’s selection in Kumihimo Tech Camp represents an important milestone in the company’s international development and reinforces its mission to build a network of industrial partners for sustainable bioconversion technologies.
